Cosmogonia Grega

    A cosmogonia grega, segundo Hesíodo, desenvolve-se, ciclicamente, de baixo para cima, das trevas para a luz.

    Primeiro era o Caos (vazio primordial, vale profundo, espaço incomensurável), matéria eterna, informe, rudimentar, mas dotada de energia prolífica).





      Depois surgiu a Terra (Gaia) – como eterna moradia para os deuses no Olimpo e no Tártaro (habitação profunda) e, simultaneamente, Eros (o Amor – a força do desejo).

 Do Caos rebentam a Noite (Nyx) e Erebos (escuridão profunda).

     A Noite dá à luz, fecundada por Erebos, ao Dia (Hemera) e o Éter.
 
 
 
 




      


A Terra (Gaia) dá à luz ao Céu (Urano), Montes e Pontos (mares).

Titã  
 
     Com ele, ela cria os Titãs (Oceano, Ceos, Crio, Hiperión, Jápeto e Cronos) e as Titãnidas (Téia, Réia, Mnemósina, Febe e Tétis); entretanto Urano não lhes permitia sair do seio da Terra.
 
  




 
  Após os Titãs e Titânidas, Urano e Gaia geraram os Ciclopes (que tinham um só olho no meio da testa) e os Hecatônquiros (Monstros de cem braços e de  cinquenta cabeças).
